• Headlight Motor Repair: Used ball bearing

Used ball bearing for the headlight motor. This bearing is located at the end of the worm-drove of the motor. If you've lost one when repairing your headlight actuator, this will be needed. The bearing it very important. If the shaft doesn't have the bearing supporting the end of the worm-drive shaft the worm drive will climb the gear and jamb or lock up tight. The symptom of this happening is that the motor will run, but fail to turn. You'll find that the shaft is very hard to turn after the motor has shut off in either the up or down position. To free the shaft you'll have to manually turn the knob to release the jammed condition. Without the bearing pre-loading the end of the shaft this jamming will continue to occur. If the bearing is present yet the shaft locks up as described, then the bearing isn't being supported by the cup on the opposite end of the shaft. You'll see a small threaded shaft on the opposite end of the motor held in place with a locknut. Hold the end of the shaft with a screwdriver, loosen the locknut, and then turn in the shaft until you feel the resistance of the bearing tightening against the worn-drive of the motor. At this point, tighten the nut.
